Contactless radio-frequency identification (RFID) technology is part of our everyday lives. From bank cards to smart devices, they help us make payments, access buildings, get on public transport and more.
By integrating this same technology into 800 Series Storage units, KI can help deliver an advanced, intelligent system that is extremely user-friendly and easy to administer. RFID-enabled locks that are compatible with existing access systems can be fitted to locker units, cupboards, pedestals, and confidential waste cabinets. The same locking system can even be fitted to door handles, greatly improving meeting room access and management.
“The introduction of RFID to storage takes us from keyless to contactless, further improving the role of storage in today’s agile workspaces. Easy to set up and manage, facility managers will appreciate the enhanced auditing and deployment capabilities that this intelligent and interactive technology provides.” David Venables, Sales Director, KI Workplace.
Available in numerous options such as RFID-only or RFID/PIN code-operated locks, the new system eliminates the cost, risk and inconvenience of managing traditional key-operated locks. Additionally, by using proprietary software to gather user data, it gives facility managers valuable insight into the deployment of storage. It allows them to identify and resolve any issues regarding the appropriate use of lockers or larger storage over time. This kind of data-driven workplace planning is impossible with combination locks, or even other RFID-enabled locking systems on the market.
Additionally, this system can help audit and track access to storage units, thereby reducing risks associated with data and intellectual property theft. This is an increasingly important requirement for companies looking to meet data compliance and privacy policies.
Completely standalone, this system is battery operated and doesn’t require cables and fixtures. The locks are low maintenance, with a battery life of 3 years on an average of 30 operations per day. Moreover, they give facility managers the ability to easily reconfigure the office landscape without the need for new cabling or power infrastructure.
KI’s RFID locks are currently available in white and black, with many options for customisation. Retrofitting existing storage units may also be possible, subject to suitability
